The Safety Council now offers online Basic Driver Improvement Course (BDIC) training. The ticket information is still placed on record and may be used for other purposes. The Michigan Department of State will not add any points from the ticket to a driving record and will not show the ticket information to insurance companies for passing attendees. Upon successful completion of the Basic Driver Improvement Course, the Safety Council will electronically notify the Secretary of State of course results.

MI SOS BASIC DRIVER IMPROVEMENT COURSE DRIVERS

Drivers have 60 days to successfully complete the course. The Secretary of State will notify eligible drivers by letter that they are able to attend this class. The Michigan PA 568 of 2008 permits drivers with certain moving violations to take a Basic Driver Improvement Course to avoid points on their record. The goal of the course is to help you avoid and prevent future traffic violations and accidents.
